How to Be Persuasive with Subliminal Messages
Why should you persuade a person? That depends on your goal. One, you may simply like them to adopt your own beliefs. If you’re a marketer, persuasion is important to compel prospects to buy products from you. If you’re in a relationship, you need to convince your partner to stay with you or even to marry you.
There are different strategies on how to persuade someone, and one of these is through the use of subliminal messages.
How Do Subliminal Messages Work
Here’s an overview. These types of messages are called as such since they are intended for your subconscious mind. This is the part of the mind that is usually hidden but is devoid of any control. It doesn’t know how to filter information. Hence, messages remain there forever. Once the subconscious can already accept these messages as true, it will then influence your conscious mind, which often helps you determine the best course of action.
This is the same thing that happens when you’re trying to persuade someone. The only difference is the effect is on the other person, not on you.
How You Can Use Them
You can repeat them as often as you can. Why do you need to repeat the message? As mentioned, your subconscious is hidden and not often used unless you’re asleep or fully relaxed. If you repeat the message only once or twice, the conscious mind can block it, and you don’t get to remember it.
There are different methods on how to stress the same message over and over. You can say it regularly, have it printed and displayed in different areas, or incorporate images or sounds to the message.
You can create scarcity. Scarcity is a situation where there are very few supplies but a very high demand. If you ever find yourself in this situation, you know that you’re in for a tough competition to get what you want.
Subliminal messages can be used to develop the sense of scarcity. For example, “Buy now, or else you can’t take advantage of the promo.” Flash the message on your screen many times or repeat the lines several times in your sales letter. This way they will feel the urgency.
You want to empower others to do an action. Let’s take the viewpoint of marketers. You want your potential customers to buy from you, right? But for you to do that, you need to convince them to look into your Products List and click on the Buy button. Well, here’s a technique for you. Empower them. A lot of them don’t purchase because they’re apprehensive. You can use subliminal messages or affirmations for that. If you’re selling marketing e-books, you may want to convince your buyers to tell themselves, “The power to be wealthy is within me now” or “I have all the resources to be rich and famous.”
The science and art of persuasion becomes more effective if you take into consideration the person you’re trying to convince. Thus, subliminal messages work more efficiently and faster if you pattern them according to the personality and behavior of the person.
